Second round of storms possible Thursday in MA

More storms were expected into the evening before drier weather arrived for the end of the week. The stronger storms will be capable of producing damaging winds and hail.

Two lines of severe thunderstorms hit northern Warren and Washington counties on Wednesday afternoon, downing trees and utility lines and dropping dime-sized hail.

Minor flooding of creeks and streams are possible in areas of heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service says the area of the state with a marginal severe outlook covers the Burlington, Akron, Sterling and Julesburg areas.

Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of precipitation, with storms and showers likely mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. An east southeast wind of 7 to 13 miles per hour will become south in the afternoon. This includes a chance of a few scattered showers and storms by later in the day.

Temperatures throughout Wednesday are expected to reach into the high 80s during the day and fall to the mid 60s in the evening.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 65, according to the weather service.

Starting in the early afternoon, some showers will start to pop up in the mountains and foothills; some thunderstorms could develop as well.
