Admitting guilt is 'non-starter' for Robert Kraft in prostitution solicitation case

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and 14 of the other men charged with soliciting prostitution at a Jupiter day spa want to keep surveillance-camera video that allegedly incriminates the men out of public view

The proposed pre-trial diversion program would have required Kraft to either acknowledge guilt or admit that he would have been proven guilty at trial, according to the spokesperson for the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office, Mike Edmondson.

Under the initial deal that was offered, prosecutors would drop misdemeanor solicitation charges if the men pay $5,000 fines for each offense (Kraft was charged with two), complete an educational course about prostitution, submit to testing for sexually transmitted diseases and admit in court that they would have been found guilty had the case gone to trial. Through a spokesman, Kraft denied that he was involved in any illegal activity.

News of the charges being dropped came the same day that a coalition of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking survivor networks wrote a letter calling on Goodell to investigate criminal charges against Kraft and if found to be true to strip him of ownership of the Super Bowl champions franchise, according to a letter released by the coalition on Tuesday.

But ESPN says the deal is a "non-starter" for Kraft, with a source telling them "One-hundred percent no way he's taking the deal".

Kraft is one of about 300 men charged in Florida as part of the state's continued efforts in cracking down on human trafficking. Kraft has plead not-guilty to both counts of misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution and indicated Wednesday he will not accept the plea deal offered by Florida prosecutors.

Kraft visited Orchids of Asia twice in late January, just before watching the Patriots play in Kansas City.

This last bit of information could prove critical in the way the case progresses, as Kraft is reportedly very concerned and opposed to his name being linked to accusations of sex trafficking.

Kraft, who is facing two counts of soliciting prostitution, has so far denied any wrongdoing.

Kraft is to be arraigned on March 28. Quinn reported that there are two main goals for the 77-year-old: getting distance from the human-trafficking allegations, and keeping video evidence, which police claim they have, sealed, and that there are expected to be intense negotiations leading up to next week's court date.
