Borderlands 'Mask of Mayhem' teaser trailer, announcement set for March 28

Gearbox Constructs New Borderlands Mask of Mayhem Teaser

In a new trailer from Gearbox titled "Borderlands Teaser - Mask of Mayhem" we get what is our first real confirmation that the next Borderlands game is not only in the works, but the lid so to speak is set to be blown off tomorrow. However, it includes multiple characters and enemies from the "Borderlands" video game series. The first message that plays in the video is actually in morse code, playing in the top left corner of the trailer near the beginning.

The release of Borderlands 3 or whatever its final name might be has been a long time coming for Borderlands fans with the Gearbox box Randy Pitchford being met with many questions about the game along the way.

Assuming the woman at the beginning of the trailer is a Siren, and that one of the playable characters is a Siren, it seems that there are three easily noticeable Sirens in total during the Mayhem trailer. Both the trailer and the tweet directed people to the Borderlands website as well where the new mask teaser that shows the series' trademark mask composed of different character, weapon, and vehicle models. The code is for Borderlands 2, and when redeemed, players will receive five Golden Keys and the Salvador Community Day skin. A third secret code was in the form of a message in braille.

We'll be bringing you all the latest news and reveals as the Borderlands 3 (or whatever Gearbox has in store for us) event happens tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed that it's time for another true sequel. An official unveiling is likely to come tomorrow at Pax East, though, during a livestream. All previous Borderlands titles were developed with UE3.
