Trump says some ‘very innocent people’ targeted in Mueller investigation

While on a victory lap after being cleared of colluding with Russians in the 2016 election President Trump runs over his good news by being vindictive pushing to outlaw Obamacare and cutting aid to Puerto Rico

US special counsel Robert Mueller's still secret report about Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election is more than 300 pages long, officials said Thursday, as Democrats made new demands that Attorney General William Barr release the full document after only writing a four-page summary last weekend.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Barr's synopsis that cleared President Donald Trump of campaign collusion with Russian Federation and criminal obstruction of the federal probe "condescending" and "arrogant".

"House Democrats did not win the election on collusion; we didn't win the election on impeachment; we didn't win the election on obstruction of justice", said Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of NY, the Democratic Caucus chairman.

"So what is the president afraid of?" she continued. But I don't think it's OK.

Attorney General William Barr released a four-page summary of the report on Sunday and is expected to release a public version of the document in the coming weeks.

He said triumphantly on Twitter: "No collusion, no obstruction, complete and total exoneration".

Mr Johnson also hopes to unearth facts about alleged discussions at the Justice Department both to surreptitiously record conversations with Mr Trump and to approach Cabinet members about replacing him under the US Constitution's 25th Amendment.

Trump advisers predict Mr Trump will make much of the matter at a rally for supporters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Thursday, his first major appearance since the Mueller investigation concluded.

Some leading Republicans, including House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy, have called on Schiff to resign from the panel or as committee chairman.

"We have no faith in your ability to discharge your duties in a manner consistent with your constitutional responsibility, and urge your immediate resignation as chairman of the committee", Conaway told the committee Thursday morning.

President Donald Trump has led the chorus against Rep. Schiff, who has always been a vocal critic of the president and is leading investigations into the administration and the Trump campaign on the back of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Goldstone, a representative who works on behalf of worldwide music acts, helped arrange the Trump Tower meeting in July of 2016 at the behest of one of his clients' fathers.

"There is a different word for that than collusion, and it's called compromise, " Schiff said, as he opened the session. He initially turned the hearing over to opening comments from ranking member Devin Nunes, who wasted no time in pointing out Republicans' previous efforts to address Russian Federation.

Since Barr's findings were released, Schiff this week has repeated his assertion that evidence of collusion is in "plain sight".

Visibly angry, Schiff cited Donald Trump Jr.'s involvement in the well-known Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer who offered "dirt" on Hillary Clinton and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort's sharing of polling data with a Russian associate. They - rightly - would have seen this as an abuse of power, and abuse they now seem to think is just acceptable. "I mean, this whole Oliver Stone approach to the Mueller report by Democrats is getting a bit old".

Mr. Mueller's report, which has yet to be made public, concluded that nobody in the Trump campaign conspired with Russian Federation to interfere in the 2016 election.

Trump also called on Schiff to resign, but he took it a step further, asking Schiff to resign from Congress overall. "The Department of Justice should not be involved in a cover-up of what's actually in the report". "Barr took two days to set aside that evidence". Republicans have been taking a victory lap. "Cohen goes to jail, the president runs a victory lap".

What would determine whether the investigation was legitimate would be more information about those FISA Court warrants, but also the contents of Mueller's report.

"A judge would have to release those and we would hope a judge would", Nadler said. Over 10 minutes, the chairman asked whether Barr would accede to Congress' demand for the full report by April 2.
