We have reported in the past that Apple is planning to separate iTunes into different apps and finally kill iTunes altogether.

iTunes was first introduced to the world at the 2001 Macworld Expo and created a frenzy among consumers and industry experts alike.

Apple will announce applications to replace iTunes at an event on Monday, Bloomberg reports. It has always been rumoured that iTunes will be terminated as it has lost its lustre in the age of music streaming services including the brand's own Apple Music. If you have a very large music library, you'll know that iTunes often chokes or crashes. However, Apple will be pulling back on the iPhone in the future, and place more focus on the Apple Watch. Apple CEO Tim Cook and co. are expected to formally announce their new approach during the keynote presentation at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif., on Monday.

Retiring iTunes, according to Bloomberg, is just one of many changes that will make new-generation Apple devices more independent from iPhones, iPads and laptops. While this is new for desktop owners, its something iPhone and iPad users acclimated to with the 2015 release of Apple Music. For instance, subscribers to Apple Music - the company's music streaming service - must access the service on Macs through iTunes. While that seems to be the biggest expected change with iOS 13, some have also speculated that there will be new health features and changes to Apple's own apps.

Although other companies - including Microsoft and Sony - had considered launching music stores, they "weren't companies that had demonstrated Apple's sophistication with regard to software", according Vidich.
